Gateway EC Series EC14D UltraPortable Laptop

Gateway's EC Series of UltraPortable notebooks has just added to their family with the emergence of the new EC14D configurations. now you may think that this is just your typical small notebook but don't jump the gun on that just yet. The EC14D series is a rare breed as it features an integrated DVD drive, a feature not typically seen on notebooks with an ii.6-inch display. According to a Gateway spokesman "The integrated DVD drive in such a compact device will be a huge benefit for customers who want the flexibility to enjoy and share different movies, music, photos and more stored on a DVD or CD."

The EC14D is designed with the mobile person in mind. The EC14D has some pretty good specs about it. It has an 8X Super Multi double-layer DVD drive that allows users to read all types of DVD and CD media allowing them to enjoy popular movies and games on the fly. It also gives them access to their music files and photos for downloading and sharing on websites like Photobucket, Facebook or Twitter. To add to its mobility the EC14D has a 6-cell battery to allow you to run your notebook up to 8 hours on a single charge.

Connectivity wise the EC14D comes with an 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connection. This gives users fast and easy connection to the internet at any Wi-Fi hotspot. Other specs include an Intel Pentium ULV Processor SU 4100, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 11.6" HD Widescreen Ultrabright LED-backlit TFT LCD screen with a 1366x768 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, Mobile Intel GS45 Express Chipset, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD, 4096MB DDR2 Dual-channel 667MHz memory which is upgradeable to 8 GB, 320GB(2) 5400RPM SATA hard drive, Integrated 8X Super-Multi DVD player, integrated webcam, Multi-in-1 digital media card reader, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI port and a multi-gesture touchpad all packed into a case measuring 11.49"(W) by 1.12" to 1.18"(H) by 8.33"(D) and weighing only 3.55lbs.

Along with the EC14D, Gateway is also offering new models in the rest of its EC Series notebook lines. Overall the EC14D looks to be a pretty good little notebook and one that is especially good for mobile notebook needs. Gateway's New LT2000

Gateway has now introduced their second netbook, the LT2000. This extremely reasonably priced laptop is not only sleek and stylish but has some awesome features for the very low price tag.

The LT2000 is compact and considerably portable. It only measures about one inch thin and weighs a mere 2.62 pounds. The netbook is available in NightSky Black and Cherry Red and is engraved with the Gateway logo and chic sliver trim accents.

The rundown on all the features of the LT2000 are pretty basic but most people wouldn’t really need anymore than what Gateway offers. The netbook has a 10.1-inch TFT LED-backlit display that allows plenty of room for owners to view web pages, e-mails, digital media, documents, and more. Included in the LT2000’s slim frame is three USB ports, an Ethernet port, a VGA port, and a multi-in-one digital card reader. Also, the laptop is powered by an Intel Atom processor, has 1GB of memory, and has 160GB of hard drive space.

Some eye-catching additional features that would normally not be found in a netbook in such a low price category would include the integrated webcam and the awesome Multi-Gesture Touchpad. The Touchpad allows users to move around e-mails, web pages, documents, music playlists, files, and so much more in an incredibly unique way. To flip through pictures, all that you need to do is move two fingers across the touchpad. To scroll through web pages or music playlists, simply use a circular swirling motion on the touchpad. Along with many other unique finger motions that can be utilized on the touchpad, you can pinch inward or outward to zoom in and out of whatever application you might be using. I think its incredible that such a cool feature can be found on such a budget laptop.

With the cool design, standard basics, awesome added features, and low price tag, I don’t know how this netbook could be passed up. Gateway will offer the LT2000 for $299.99. After considering all the facts, this netbook is looking good!

Gateway's new T-6828 is a sleek new laptop for anyone looking for a budget laptop. The best feature that makes it stand out from other laptops in the price range is the free upgrade to a 2 year warranty. This is a great deal that we hope to see a common trend follow. Laptops are great and all, but they are never reliable enough for you to not have to mess with a warranty. The specs on the Gateway T-6828 notebook include 3GB's of RAM, a 250GB 5400RPM hard drive, 6 cell battery, Vista Premium, 2 year warranty, and an Intel Core 3 Duo T550 processor.(1.83GHz, 667 MHz FSB) These specs look ok, nothing really stands out to much from other laptops in the same price range, but at least you get a sleek new look and a nice shade of red and a price of $800 makes it not that bad.
