HP has updated its Windows 7 tablet with a faster 1.5GHz Intel Atom Z670 Oak Trail processor and a solid state disk.
The HP Slate 500 launched a little over a year ago. It is aimed at business users. The upgraded model will, reportedly, get more battery life and offer more security features. It will also have a flat back panel. The tablet will start shipping later this month for $699 and up.

Asus shipped 1.3 million Eee PCs during the third quarter of this year. The company has, so far, shipped 3.6 million Eee PCs in 2011. During this year, the company shipped 1.2 million tablets - 800,000 of them were sold during the third quarter.
